Holter Monitoring

A Holter monitor is a small wearable device that records the heart rhythm, commonly over 24 hours. It is used to assess the heart rhythm for a fixed duration to see if there is any evidence of arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm) that may be related to your symptoms.

Pre-test preparation

  • Please shower on the morning of the test as you won’t be able to shower after it is fitted.
  • Men who have thick chest hair (especially if near shoulder areas) may need to be shaved for a small area by our staff.
  • We will give you detailed instructions on how to use the device on the day.
  • A spare battery will be provided.
  • Make sure the device and spared battery are returned the next day. There will be cost associated if items are lost.
