24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

ABPM is a test done to record your blood pressure at fixed interval (usually hourly) throughout a 24-hour period while you continue your everyday life. It uses a small blood pressure recording machine that is attached to a belt and a cuff wrapped around your upper arm.

The advantage of the 24-hour ABPM is to allow accurate BP assessment of patients known to have white coat hypertension and to assess if the BP control is adequate at a home environment.
