HeartBug monitor

A HeartBug monitor is a small, lightweight heart rhythm monitoring device that is worn on the chest for a period of time, usually between a few days and a few weeks.

It is used to continuously record your heart’s electrical activity while you go about your normal daily routine. This allows your cardiologist to detect irregular heart rhythms (also called arrhythmias) that may not be identified during a brief test in the clinic.

Unlike a standard ECG, which records your heart rhythm for only a few seconds, a HeartBug monitor provides extended monitoring over time. This makes it particularly useful if your symptoms occur occasionally, such as palpitations, dizziness, or fainting episodes.

The device is simple to apply and comfortable to wear. It is attached to the skin using a small adhesive patch and does not interfere with most normal daily activities. Your cardiologist will advise you on how long you need to wear the monitor and how to care for it during that time.

Once the monitoring period is complete, the recorded data is analysed to identify any abnormal heart rhythms. Your cardiologist will then review the results with you and discuss any further investigations or treatment if required.
